Professor Jonathan Moyo has been “reassigned” by president Robert Mugabe from the powerful Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development in the latest cabinet reshuffle.
Moyo replaces Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, who was moved to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate, formerly headed by Saviour Kasukuwere, who is now minister of local government, public works and national housing. Kasukuwere replaces rival Ignatius Chombo, who has taken over from Kembo Mohadi as the Minister of Home Affairs.
Mohadi is now the Minister of State Security, in charge of the spy agency, the CIO.
Nyasha Chikwinya is the new Minister of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development, a portfolio originally reserved for Mugabe’s wife Grace, who rejected it.
